Women’s Under 23 Inter-Provincial T20

The Colombo South women’s team emerged champions at the inaugural Women’s Under 23 Inter-Provincial cricket tournament, when they defeated Colombo North Outer by five wickets in the finals played at the Thurstan grounds in Reid Avenue on Friday.
Colombo North Outer, batting first, posted a modest score of 93 for 7 in their allotted 20 overs with Ama Kanchana making a top score of 33.

Colombo South, in their turn, was guided by an unbeaten knock of 37 by Nipuni Hansika and a 24 by Hasini Madushika, enabling them to reach the required target with nine balls to spare.

Earlier, Colombo North Outer defeated North Central Province while Colombo South overcame Central Province in the semifinal encounters. The tournament was contested by ten teams from around the island.
