Sawmya and Jayalath excel at Para Games

Sawmya Maduwanthi of Rehab Lanka SC and Y. P. A. P. Jayalath of Commando SC were named Best Male and Female athletes at the national para games, worked off at the Sugathadasa Stadium recently.
Maduwanthi put up a fine performance to clinch three titles, namely the women’s 100 metres, 200 metres and the long jump events, while setting up a new national meet record in the 100 metres event.
Jayalath also produced a splendid performance to win three titles while exceeding the Asian standard in the men’s 200 metres event with a timing of 26.2 seconds.
In addition he also went on to win the men’s 100 metres and the men’s long jump events respectively.
