D.S. Senanayake College dominated the proceedings in their drawn Under 19 inter-school cricket encounter against Thurstan concluded at Wijerama Mawatha yesterday.

The second day’s play saw Uvin Bandara cracking a half ton and being associated in a 85 runs stand for the second wicket with Akeel Inham who chipped in with a 43 which helped DSS make a score of 187 for 7 before declaring.

This was after Supun Madusanka and Binura Fernando shared eight wickets between them to bowl out Thurstan resuming from their overnight score of 107 for 9 for 114. Supun ended with impressive figures of 4 for 14 while Binura captured 4 for 44.

Thurstan batting the second fared better as skipper Ramindu Kumarasinghe remained unbeaten on 52 enabling them end the day on 07 for 4.

Nazeer shines in drawn match at Maradana

A knock of 60 by Nazik Nazeer was the highlight of the drawn Under 19 inter-school match between Zahira and Moratu MV concluded at Maradana yesterday.

Zahira after bundling out the visitors for just 104 on day one resuming on their overnight score of 42 for 2 went on to make a score of 139 for 8 declared.

Moratu MV batting the second time made 163 for 6 before declaring which left Zahira a target of 123 runs but ended the day making 48 for 2.

Thusith, Thavin crack half tons

Half tons by Thusith Perera and Thavin Dhananjaya who made identical knocks of 58 was the highlight of the first days play in the Under 19 match between Ananda and Dharmapala played at Ananda Mawatha.

Ananda put into bat by Dharmapala made a modest score of 213 for 9 declared while Dharmapala in their turn ended on 76 for 2. The match will be continued today.

Late start at Campbell Place

The match between Nalanda and Trinity at Campbell Place got off to a late start at 2.15 p.m. due to the wet outfield. But even then only 36 overs of play was possible as the match was called off early due to bad light with Nalanda taking first lease of the wicket making 72 for 2. The match will be continued today.
