Devki wins wushu colours
View(s):Devki Perera of Lyceum International School, Nugegoda was named Upcoming Female Wushu Athlete, at the National School Colours Awards Ceremony of the Piliyandala Educational Zone.
Devki emerged champion in the Nan-Dao category at the 13th All-Island National Wushu Championship and also emerged champion in the Nan-Dao, Nan-Gum and Nan-Quan categories at the Western Province Wushu Championship this year. She also took part in the Asian Junior Wushu Championship and was placed sixth overall in the Nan-Dao ‘B’ and Nan-Quan ‘B’ categories.
Devki is coached by Sifu Prasanna Jayaweera. The Schools Colours ceremony was held at the auditorium of Central College Piliyandala under the patronage of parliamentarians Gamini Lokuge and Mohan Lal Grero. – NA
