Sri Lanka National Rupavahini, the national channel will feature a series of special Christmas programmes including movies, musicals and teleplays.

Two Christmas movies ‘Home for Christmas’ and ‘Angel in the Family’ will be telecast at 12 noon on December 22 and 23. The movies are with Sinhala subtitles.

Renowned television musical ‘Ridam Chat’ will have a special edition with Christmas songs and carols on December 23 at 20.10 pm. The special feature of this edition is that a group of priests including Fr. Camilus Fernando, Fr. Sriyananda Fernando, Fr. Saman Maximus and Fr. Terrence Kithsiri Perera will render their voices for the songs.

One episode Christmas drama ‘Yali Pibidi’ starring Tony Ranasinghe, Sriyani Amerasena, Mahendra Weeraratne and Malkumari Geetharani will be telecast at 8.30 pm on December 25. Christmas will be telecast at 2.30 pm on December 25. Lyrics written by Ven. Rambukkana Siddhartha Thero, Dr. Ajantha Ranasinghe, Dharmasiri Gamage and John Fernando. All the songs are sung by Fr. Camilus Fernando, the rector of Holy Cross College, Kalutara. H. M. Jayawardena, Stanley Peiries and Fr. Sriyananda Fernando have composed music for the songs.

‘Geetha Naththala’, a Christmas musical recorded at St. Sebastian Church, Sea Street, Negombo will be telecast at 10.10 pm on the Christmas day, December 25. A group of popular artistes including Latha Walpola, Anil Barathi, Marieselle Gunatillake, Keerthi Pasquel, Manik Chandrika, Edward Jayakody, Charitha Priyadharshani, Chandani Hettiarachchi, Luke Hendrikus, Bili Fernando and Mario Ananda will feature in the programme.

The Christmas midnight mass conducted by Archbishop of Colombo Malcolm Cardinal Ranjitha will be telecast live from Infant Jesus Church in Kalamulla, Kalutara from 11.40 pm on December 24. Christian Christmas mass conducted at Dutch Reformed Church in Bambalapitiya will be telecast at 4 pm on December 25.
