Awards for Grade 5 Scholarship students at Bandarawela MMV

Bandarawela Madya Maha Vidyalaya, one of the leading schools in Uva Province held its annual award ceremony of grade five students who got through the grade 5 scholarship examinations this year, on 8th of November, 2011 at their school auditorium.

The occasion was graced by chief guest Senior Lecturer of Sabragamuwa University and the past pupip of B.M.M.V. Ms.S.J.M.N.G.Samarakoon while Provincial Education Director of Uva Mr.R.M.Jayasekara guest of honour at this event. Mr. Kapila Senarath The Chief secretary to the Chief Minister of Uva Province, Mrs. B.A.D.J.Jayawardena, Primary Sectional Director of Uva Province, Mrs. Hema Attanayake, Primary Sectional Director of Bandarawela Zone, M.M.Wimalasekara, The Principal of Bandarawela Madya Maha Vidyalaya and the Principal of Dharmashoka M.V. were invited as special guests.

The programme was organized by Mrs. Kumary Darmawardena, Vice Principal of "Adhikaram" Primary section of B.M.M.V. 167 students were awarded with medals and certificates. The medals have been awarded to 52 students who got through the examination while the certificates were awarded to 115 students who got the marks over 70. The People's Bank of Bandarawela .

The Principal of B.M.M.V. stated "teaching, learning and appreciating are the three main parts in education which should blend together to get the maximum success from students. That is the main reason which made us to organize this event annually."

"As I was an old student of this school, I am proud to be the chief guest of this occasion. I would like request all the parents to allow these children to enjoy their childhood while backing up in their studies.
They should participate in sports and aesthetic activities too and that will make them a perfect personality" chief guest Ms. S. J. M. N. G. Samarakoon noted.

The final and the best part of this occasion was the "Felicitation of Teachers" (Guru Upahara) which was organized by the parents of the students who got through the scholarship examination this year, which brightened the event.
