New CG of Prisons

Major General V. R. de Silva, currently General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Army’s 11 Division will be the new Commissioner General of Prisons, a senior Justice Ministry official said yesterday.

Amarasiri Kuruwage, Co-ordinating Secretary of the Minister of Justice, said he is being seconded for service immediately. Maj. Gen. de Silva is due to retire from the Army in August this year. He will continue to function even thereafter as Commissioner General.
