Sri Lanka Air Force 75th anniversary show not to be missed
View(s):Today will be the final day to witness the special air show and exhibition at the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) Base Ratmalana held in celebration of its 75th anniversary.
Offering the public a rare opportunity to witness aerial displays and learn about the country’s aviation capabilities, the programme includes a special aerial display by SLAF aircraft, an exhibition area featuring a series of educational and technological display booths and more.
On Friday President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, attended the exhibition and air display organised to mark the 75th anniversary of SLAF held at the Air Force Base in Ratmalana,
The exhibition and air display have been organised with the aim of sharing the 75 years of distinguished service of the SLAF with the public. The exhibition features a number of educational booths highlighting aeronautics and aviation technology.
The event allows visitors to view a range of operational SLAF aircraft and selected civilian aircraft at close quarters while learning about their technical specifications and operational roles. Several trade booths representing various Air Force branches and professions are set up, providing insight into the diverse career opportunities and specialised fields within the SLAF.
A range of operational and ceremonial demonstrations, including aerial displays by SLAF helicopters, transport aircraft and jet aircraft, parachute displays, aircraft firefighting demonstrations, precision drill displays and combat and rescue operation simulations by Special Forces personnel. Demonstrations by the SLAF No. 48 K-9 Wing, traditional Angampora martial arts displays, cultural performances and night drone light displays are also to be expected.
Several local flight training academies and commercial aviation operators including aircraft from Rathna Aviation, Senok Aviation, Lakwin Aviation, Red Bird Aviation, Asian Aviation, Sakurai Aviation and DP Aviation have so far participated in the flying display segment. Cinnamon Air and SriLankan Airlines also took part in the event.
