Competing against Sri Lanka’s top-ranked players, Lyceum athletes demonstrated exceptional skill, resilience, and sportsmanship across multiple age categories.
The championship spotlight fell on Nethmi Rathnayake, who captured the Under 19 Girls’ Singles National Title with a composed and consistent display of excellence. Continuing the school’s strong showing, Sasindi Abeysinghe claimed the Under 11 Girls’ Singles National Championship, an outstanding achievement that reflects her promise as a future star of Sri Lankan badminton.
Adding depth to Lyceum’s success, Yenara Wickramsinghe delivered an impressive all-round performance, reaching the Semi Finals of the Under 17 Girls’ Singles, finishing as Runner-up in the Under 17 Girls’ Doubles, and advancing to the Quarter Finals of the Open Women’s Doubles, where she competed against experienced senior players.
Lyceum’s medal count was further strengthened by Sihathna Keerawella, who secured 2nd Runner-Up positions in both the Under 13 Girls’ Singles and Doubles, while Sinura Sasvidu earned a 2nd Runner-Up position in the Under 11 Boys’ Doubles, reinforcing the school’s strong presence across age groups.
In a standout achievement at this year’s championship, Lyceum International School, Nugegoda was the only school to secure two national championship titles across two different age categories, reaffirming its reputation for nurturing sporting excellence at the highest level.
