Education ministry asks donations be sent to government accounts

The Education Ministry has urged those who wish to make financial donations for the welfare of school children affected by the floods and landslides to direct them to the government’s official accounts.

The ministry said that while many individuals and organisations in the country are currently making commendable contributions to help students affected by the severe weather conditions in the country, the government has also introduced several account numbers to accept financial assistance from domestic and foreign donors who make such contributions.

Government ministries are responsible only for financial donations directed to the accounts introduced by the government, the ministry said.

“We appreciate the contributions made by the public during this difficult time and request that they be responsible in making financial donations to students,” the ministry said.
