Counselling as a Tool for Navigating Life: IChemC Hosts Inspiring Guest Lecture

The Women Chemists Committee (WCC) of the Institute of Chemistry Ceylon (IChemC) successfully hosted a guest lecture titled “Counselling is Helping Individuals to Navigate Through Life’s Challenges” on 25th November at the PPGL Siriwardene Auditorium.
The session was conducted by Professor Emeritus Mangalika Hettiarachchi of the University of Kelaniya, who highlighted the value of counselling in helping individuals manage stress, build resilience, and make informed life decisions. Drawing from her academic and mentoring experience, she emphasized that counselling is an essential tool for personal growth in today’s fast-paced world.
The event drew strong participation from students and professionals, reflecting the growing interest in mental well-being within the scientific community. The WCC noted that the programme forms part of its ongoing efforts to promote emotional wellness and professional development among its members. At the conclusion of the programme, Dr. Medha Gunarathne delivered the vote of thanks, appreciating Professor Hettiarachchi’s valuable contribution and acknowledging the efforts of the organising committee.
