Maris Stella and Ave Maria claim U-12 athletic championships
View(s):Two leading schools from Negombo, Maris Stella College and Ave Maria Convent, clinched the overall Boys’ and Girls’ titles respectively at the Ritzbury All-Island Inter-School Under-12 Athletic Championship 2025 held at the Embilipitiya Public ground.
Maris Stella College outsmarted the rest in the Boys’ Segment, where St. Benedict’s College emerged runners-up, while Ave Maria Convent impressed to top the Girls’ Segment, where Sumana Balika Vidyalaya, Ratnapura finished as runners-up.
Boys’ Under-12 champions - Maris Stella College, Negombo
The Ritzbury All-Island Inter-School Under-12 Athletics Championship 2025 is part of the 54th Sir John Tarbat Junior Athletic Championship, where Maris Stella College eventually claimed the Boys’ overall title, while Lyceum International School, Wattala went on to clinch the Girls’ overall title.
In the Boys’ overall standings, Maris Stella College completed at 82 points to emerge champions, followed by Mahasen National School, Bakamuna, who finished as runners-up with 78 points, and St. Benedict’s College at third position with 72 points. In the Girls’ segment, Lyceum International School, Wattala secured the overall title with 82, followed by Sujatha Vidyalaya, Matara (45 points), and Holy Family Convent, Kotahena (36 points) at second and third places respectively.
