The Certificate Awarding Ceremony of the FEI-Certified Groom Course was held at the Sri Lanka Military Academy (SLMA) in Diyatalawa, marking the successful completion of the internationally recognised programme conducted from October 1 to 3.

During the ceremony, certificates were presented to 13 participants, while Lieutenant Corporal Dayarathna of the Army Equestrian Squadron received the ‘Outstanding Groom Award’ for his exemplary performance throughout the course.

The course, conducted under the guidance of an International FEI (International Federation for Equestrian Sports) Level 5 Coach Jackie Potts, focused on developing professional skills in horse grooming, feeding, handling, and daily care, essential for producing high-standard equestrian professionals. Chief Instructor and Overlooking Director Academics of SLMA, Colonel P.A.D.S.W. Ponnamperuma graced the occasion as the chief guest.

Other guests included President of the Sri Lanka Equestrian Association Ishanga Mahipala, Secretary of the Association Kosala Wickramanayaka, and Veterinary Surgeon of the Sri Lanka Police Mounted Division Dr. W.M.M.B. Wijekoon. Senior officers, instructors, and trainees of the Sri Lanka Army Equestrian Squadron were also present.
