VIP condolences on the passing of Thai Queen Mother

Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe signed the condolence book at the Embassy in Thailand in Colombo opened for Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother, who passed away on October 25.

Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath too signed the condolence book at the Embassy of Thailand. He extended the condolences from Sri Lanka to the Royal Family, the Government, and the people of Thailand.

Thailand’s Queen Mother Sirikit who passed away on October 25 had visited Sri Lanka (then Ceylon) in 1950 along with His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great.

During their visit to Colombo, they visited the Deepaduttaramaya Purana Raja Maha Viharaya, the oldest temple in Colombo, and planted a madara tree which flourishes to this day.

She is the mother of the King of Thailand King Vajiralongkorn. She passed away on October 25 at the age of 93.
