A Cabinet minister, several governors, state ministers, ambassadors, senior diplomatic staff, and judges are among the forty-one high-ranking officials who failed to submit their asset and liability declarations for last year, the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) said.

According to the amended list of non-declarants of assets and liabilities, former Cabinet Minister Douglas Devananda and six former State Ministers—Tharaka Balasooriya, Shantha Bandara, Kader Masthan, Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan, Surendra Ragawan and the late Lohan Ratwatta—failed to hand in their asset declarations.

According to Section 80 of the Anti-Corruption Act No. 9 of 2023, public officials and those who are holding public offices are required to make periodic declarations of their assets and liabilities within and outside of the country.

Four former governors—Roshan Goonetileke, Senthil Thondaman, Navin Dissanayake, and William Gamage—are also included in the list released by CIABOC.

At least 28 senior diplomatic staff, including eleven ambassadors, deputy permanent representatives, high commissioners, and ministers, are on the list as well, along with two former judges.
