While thousands of ten-year-olds last Sunday left exam halls after the Grade 5 Scholarship exam, with carefree abandon to enjoy a break from studies and treats from their parents, this young vendor of guavas was seen by the side of the Kandy-Dambulla Road near the 40th Mile Post, trying to eke out a few Rupees to help her mother’s attempts to bring up a family.
