UCL Monash Graduation 2025 – A Dazzling Celebration of Excellence and Global Achievements

Universal College Lanka (UCL) proudly hosted its Graduation Ceremony on Tuesday, 8th July 2025, at the Grand Ballroom, Waters Edge. The grand celebration honoured the academic success of 262 outstanding graduates from the Monash University Foundation Year (MUFY) and Monash College Diploma (MCD) programmes delivered at UCL.

This year marked an extraordinary milestone in UCL’s journey, with a pass rate exceeding 95% and an incredible 75 Global Awards of Excellence—making it the most successful academic year in UCL’s history. These accolades spanned all five academic streams—Business, Engineering, IT, Science, and Commerce—highlighting the remarkable calibre of UCL’s students and the quality of education offered.

The Chief Guest, His Excellency Paul Stephens, Australian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, praised UCL’s impact, noting, “Over 2,000 students have enrolled at UCL Monash since 2016. This is a commendable milestone reflecting the strong contribution UCL has made to Sri Lanka’s tertiary education landscape.”

Guest of Honour, Mr. Roshana Nanayakkara, Deputy CEO/CFO of Monash College, Australia, joined in celebrating this significant occasion.

Dr. Harsha Alles, Director of UCL, reflected on the Monash partnership’s success, stating, “Monash University, ranked 37th in the QS World University Rankings 2025, has opened global doors for our students. This partnership has been central to shaping future-ready graduates.”

Dr. Chamila Ariyananda, CEO of UCL, extended warm congratulations to the graduates: “Your time at Monash College has instilled in you the confidence and capability to thrive at Monash University and beyond. We are proud of your journey and believe in your power to drive impactful change.”

Dr. Dhananjay Kulkarni, Provost of UCL, highlighted the legacy of achievements by the graduates, stating: “You have been a wonderful group of students to have on campus. Your achievements at this young age reflect dedication, team spirit, and a thirst to improve and excel—qualities that will serve you well as you continue your higher studies, professional pursuits, and life in general”

The ceremony also recognised UCL’s Highest Achieving Students: Valedictorian – Ashley Marayah Philip, Salutatorian – Vimuth Aravinda Abeysinghe and Third Award: Dulana Jithsara Sarathchandra.

The UCL High Achiever Awards were presented to: Senuka Wijerathna, Ashley Marayah Philip, Vimuth Aravinda Abeysinghe, Savin De Alwis, and Induni Susara Lokumudali.

UCL extended heartfelt congratulations to the graduating class for their exceptional accomplishments and wished them continued success as they shaped the future with confidence, passion, and purpose.
