New students join Southeastern University with a declaration against racism
View(s):The Faculty of Islamic Studies and Arabic Language of the Southeastern University of Sri Lanka organised an induction ceremony for new students for the academic year 2023/2024 on July 1 at the AR Mansoor Memorial Conference Hall in the presence of Dean Ash-Sheikh MHA Munas.
Vice Chancellor Professor Dr S M Junaideen participated in the event and addressed the gathering.
In his speech, the Vice Chancellor congratulated the new students who joined the Faculty of Islamic Studies and Arabic Language to continue their university education; and stated that the university administration will be a great driving force in the academic progress of the students.
The free education provided by the government is a privilege available to a small group of people in the country and should be used responsibly; he said, and also urged students to transform themselves into partners in the change that the country expects.
He said that the South Eastern University of Sri Lanka is the only university that has equal representation of all social groups and that all students are treated equally without discrimination.
He urged students to be enthusiastic and continuously involved in academic activities and lectures, and at the same time to fully comply with the university rules and codes of conduct.
He said that staying away
from violence and unnecessary chaos will help students in their future progress.
He said that bullying has ruined the lives of students and that the government has implemented strict laws against it and that students and parents should be very careful in this regard.
The welcome address for the new students for the 2023/2024 academic year was delivered by the coordinator and senior lecturer of the event, MS Ahmed Riyad Ruli.
During the event, the heads of the departments of Islamic Studies and Arabic Language, Professor Dr S M M Nahfiz and Dr A M Raziq, spoke about the learning mechanisms of their departments and the benefits that can be gained through learning in their respective areas.
The Dean of the Faculty of Islamic Studies and Arabic Language, Ash-Sheikh MHA Munas, spoke about the paths the faculty has taken and the blessings it has for its students.
An undergraduate student guidebook was also launched.
