Mahinda College dominated proceedings against traditional rivals Richmond College in the drawn 118th Lovers’ Quarrel Big Match concluded at Galle International Stadium yesterday. Richmond, resuming from their overnight score of 74 for 3, managed only 220 in their first innings in response to Mahinda’s first innings score of 316 for 8 declared.

For Richmond, Sri Lanka Under-19 player Malsha Tharupathi, Chehan Subasinghe and Kavinda Nirmana hit half centuries.

Mahinda, batting the second time, went in for quick runs and reached 170 for 8 before declaring, to setting an impossible target of 267 runs. Richmond ended the day on 71 for 2.
