Matara DS champs at inter-divisional secretariat athletics meet
The Matara Divisional Secretariat accumulated 224 points to clinch the overall championship at the Matara District inter divisional secretariat athletics championship held at the Uyanwatta Stadium on May 11.
Mulatiyana PS were runners-up with 129 points and Dikwella PS were third with 58 points. Male and female athletes from the Matara, Devinuwara, Dikwella, Thihagoda, Kirinda Puhulwella, Hakmana, Mulatiyana, Kamburupitiya, Akuressa, Pitabeddara, Kotapola, Malimbada, Welipitiya,Athureliya, Weligama and Pasgoda Pradeshiya Sabha’s in the Matara district participated.
D H D Priyashantha was adjudged the Best Male Athlete at the meet and D V Ranasinghe of Kamburupitiya PS was adjudged the Best Female Athlete of the meet. Southern Provincial Councilor, Weerasumana Weerasinghe, gave away the awards.
