LOLC off to a winning start over Brandix
View(s):Lanka Orix Leasing Company got off to a winning start when they scraped to a close 50 to 48 point win over Brandix Group in their opening men’s basketball League ‘D’ division fixture conducted by the Mercantile Services Basketball Association (MSBA) at the Otter Aquatic court. At half time, LOLC held a 32 to 13 point lead.
For the winners I. Mazeer with 19 points and A. Sanjeewa 17 were the leading scorers, while D. Yohan and C. Edirisinghe were the top scorers for Brandix Group with 18 points each.
HSBC overcome NDB Bank 41 to 17 Hong Kong and Shanghai Bank overcame NDB Bank in the opening fixture of the men’s ‘B’ division basketball fixture that is now being conducted by the MSBA at the Otter Aquatic court. At the short whistle the winners led by 21 to 8 points.
While P. Smith top scored for HSBC with 13 points, R. Weerasekera and A. Fernando added a further 13 and 10 respectively.
For NDB Bank the best shooter was S. Fernando with eight points.
Randima and Perera the match winners
Roshan Randima and Isuru Perera with 26 points each were the match winners for Union Assurance when they defeated Avant Garde by 63 points to 24 in their MSBA ‘A’ division basketball fixture at the Otter Aquatic court recently. At the short break, Union Assurance led by 29 to 16 points.
The best shooters for Avant Garde were Diluk Fernando with 25 points and Umesh Costa 12.
