Parliament will be in session for an extra day this Wednesday to pass amendments to eight Finance Bills that must be approved before the financial year ends on March 31.

The Bills provide for the imposition of several taxes proposed in last November’s budget.

Bills to be taken up for debate include the Inland Revenue (Amendment) Bill; the Value-Added Tax (Amendment) Bill; the Debits Tax (Amendment) Bill; the Excise (Special Provisions) (Amendment) Bill, and two Finance (Amendment) Bills.

In addition, Parliament will hold an adjournment debate the same day on “How the Eastern Provincial Council functions at present”.
