Walk Through the Fire if Gold is the Outcome
View(s):As I have mentioned on many occasions, I started the second chapter of my life pretty late. The first phase was disastrous due to the foolish decisions I made by investing to chase after the temporary pleasures in life. My father, who never gave up on me, told me that I should pursue CIM – UK. Since I had not pursued any studies for over thirteen (13) years, I was afraid if I would have the ability to handle it. And also, since I had already destroyed a lot of my father’s wealth, I was so embarrassed that my father was investing in my studies again. However, he was a courageous father who never abandoned me at any point in my life. Instead, he encouraged me to do CIM-UK and said that he would somehow source money for me to educate myself. Therefore, I solicit, if you sense any gold within your children or your loved ones, even though their present status does not reveal any good at all, please do not give up on them. Though the society thought that I am good for nothing my father had a different perspective hence he decided to walk through the fire in order to dig out the gold within me.
Sometime back I received a call from one of my valued readers, who was very impressed and inspired by my articles. She said that her beloved daughter who was doing so well whilst school has given up on everything and she feels like she has lost her life. I gave hope to that mother, I told her not to give up on her daughter, I asked her to walk through the fire with her daughter until she could see the gold that is hidden in her daughter’s life. Very recently, this mother called me, in a lively voice and said that her daughter has started working. For the mother it was certainly as though she was seeing gold in her daughter’s life.
Each one of us including our children will go through a rough patch at some point in our lives, where it becomes extremely difficult to see any green leaves on the trees of our lives. Yet, it is especially important to make sure that you keep watering and fertilising our garden of life with hope until we see a sapling appear. It is always easy to give up as giving up does not require or demand any commitment. Yet, it is not an easy task to fight until the required gold is brought out, as it demands unwavering focus and untiring efforts. My father was so determined to make my life shine bright even though it looked so miserable that anyone would doubt if it would ever shine.
During the ancient times, the process of purifying Gold had to go through many phases where the gold that is mixed with soil had to go through many different levels of stringent heat before the gold appears. The higher the heat, the more it will be purified. This is what life exactly is. You cannot shine unless you walk through fiery challenges in life. When I started studying the CIM – UK course material, by the time I reached the bottom of the page I could not remember anything that I had read on top. I felt so discouraged that I feared for my future. Yet, I kept on studying uncompromisingly without halting until about 3.00 AM in the morning till the exams were held.
My friends used to invite me to go clubbing at night. I understood one thing, that is that at that point my friends had everything and I had nothing. The decisions you make when you have everything and when you have nothing cannot be the same. Therefore, I decided to walk through the fire until the gold in myself was found. I even told my friends that I wanted to become the best student in the country for CIM-UK, as I knew that it would be one of the greatest blessings that could assist me to grow during the second phase of my life. Hence, I refused clubbing, parties, get togethers, affiliations, fellowships and other such pleasure oriented activities, as my main focus was to discover the gold. I knew certainly that the path in between was fiery, yet I took a strong decision not to turn back. You lose only when you give up. Sadly, a majority of youngsters have mastered the skill of giving up very easily, so much so that it has become their first option the moment they face a challenge, whereas it must become their last resort.
Just as my father was so determined to walk along with me through this fire, I was also determined to walk through the fire until I reached the gold. Do not settle for any leftovers in life. People are so accustomed to seeking free lunches. Earned lunch is always more pleasurable than a free lunch. The plight we are facing today as a country is simply a result of expecting everything to come free of charge without attempting to take a walk through the fire to find the gold. The saddest part is that many still believe that the government should feed their needs for free.
Instant gratification is a killer that has destroyed the lives of many. Though it is understandable that a rigorous heating process takes place to bring out the gold that lies within you, people are only worried about the painful process of walking through the fire, they do not take into consideration the joy they would accomplish once they have completed their walk through the fire. With regard to my studies, I became the best Sri Lankan student for CIM-UK at the most difficult final stage. My wife who was also present at the graduation told me that my father cried that day during the graduation ceremony. He cried because he was able to witness the gold that he sensed and worked really hard towards. As for me, I was able to touch the gold only after I submit myself to walk through the true path.
By now I have received five National scale awards which certainly strengthened my career and assisted me to stand tall today as one the prominent lecturers, a life transforming trainer, a performing CEO and a high yielding consultant in the corporate world. You simply cannot obtain any gold by skipping the purification process. Unsuccessful people constantly focus on the fiery journey rather than the outcome which will be gold. They are so adamant to admit that the heat is a crucial part of the purification force of the process of purifying gold.
Life will always offer you two options. First, the instant happiness and then the long term satisfaction. Unfortunately, many people select the first option, as they dislike walking through the fire. Solution seekers always attempt to walk through the challenges, whereas the problem seekers always try to escape the reality by choosing shortcuts. There are no shortcuts to success. It is a process of direction, correction and development. While I was working for the famous cosmetic brand Nature’s Secrets, I used to work with sheer commitment and an untiring effort. I did so as I realised that I, myself, am a brand. If I am to reach high demand in the industry, there is no other criteria to measure it than my performance. In order to perform well you cannot take any shortcuts. It is purely based on accepting and walking through the challenges on a daily basis. Many people are merely going through struggles whereas the wise are growing through the struggles. Running away from reality will only make you a worrier, who hides himself before challenges. On the other hand, a warrior will conquer the challenges and come out of his palace victoriously with many possessions. During this fiery economic and social crisis, all we witness is people grumbling about the fire rather than going through the fire with determination. Fight till your last breath.
My Motto in life is “Live life as if it is your last day on earth”. This style of thinking helps me to thrive for the best on a daily basis, as tomorrow cannot be assured. Every moment is precious. Are you planning to take a massive bundle of regrets to your deathbed? Regrets at your deathbed can kill you before your actual death. Even though I am still alive, my conscious has died on many occasions previously. There are days I have had everything and nothing at the same time as for the regrets I withheld. Therefore, take a very strong decision to walk through the fire until you discover the gold, which is actually the precious outcome of the challenge. Do not give up on your children and loved ones until you see the gold appearing in them. Just as my father fought for me, fight for your children. You will never lose if you never give up.
