Sri Lanka under utilises scholarships from Pakistan: High Commisioner
View(s):Sri Lanka has underutilised the offers for concessionary scholarships from Pakistan.
The revelation was made during a meeting between Pakistani High Commissioner Umar Farooq Burki and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe recently.
It was revealed at the meeting that Pakistan has offered 1100 scholarships in the fields of engineering, Information Technology and medicine, but only 240 has been made use of.
The Pakistani Government meets 80 per cent of the scholarship expenses, and the Sri Lankan Government only has to cover the remaining 20% of expenses.
However the offer has not been fully utilised.
