From 4.5 percent in March this year to 22.3 percent in April, tuition fees saw a massive increase and this was a major contributing factor to the increase in April’s inflation, the Central Bank said recently.

Education, specifically tuition fees for private classes, comes under the non-food category along with transport, housing, utilities, domestic gas, health and restaurants. Non-food inflation increased to 23.9 percent in April, from 14.5 percent in March this year. April’s headline inflation increased to 33.8 percent from 21.5 percent in March 2022.
