Diploma in Solid Waste Management and Technology launched in Hali Ela
View(s):The inaugural ceremony of the Diploma in Solid Waste Management and Technology was held at the auditorium of the Foreign Employment Office in Hali Ela this week.
The diploma course was conducted by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)’s Local Government Capacity Building (CDLG) project, with the financial support of the European Union (EU), in creating a sustainable, healthy environment.
The University of Colombo and the Western Provincial Waste Management Authority are also involved in conducting the diploma course.
This is the first diploma course in Solid Waste Management and Technology.
Agriculture State Minister Shashindra Rajapaksa, Parliamentarian Sudharshana Denipitiya, Mayor of Badulla Priyantha Amarasiri, Mayor of Bandarawela Janaka Nishantha Ratnayake, Uva Province Chief Secretary P. B. Wijeyeratne and Uva Province Local Government Commissioner M. M. Wijenayake were present on the occasion.
