Airport & Aviation Services Sri Lanka Limited (AASL) conducted an Aviation Education Programme for the International Airline and Aviation College (IAAC) students this week, at the newly opened public viewing area of BIA.

The objective of the programme was to raise the awareness of the students, who were following professional aviation courses, and to brief them on the present situation of the aviation industry, airport operations, cargo operations and career development in the aviation industry.

The students were given an opportunity to witness the latest development projects taking place at BIA and to study the airport operational environment during the COVID-19 pandemic situation.

Senior officials from AASL and Srilankan Airlines shared their knowledge and experiences with the students and educated them on cargo operations, passenger facilitation and Sri Lankan airline operations at BIA, during the COVID-19 situation.

The students were also made aware of future challenges in the aviation industry and future
development projects at BIA.

AASL organised this programme under the guidance of AASL Chairman G. A. Chandrasiri and AASL Vice Chairman Rajeewasiri Sooriyaarachchi. Senior AASL and Sri Lankan Airlines
officials were present as well.

AASL had planned to conduct more aviation education and awareness building programmes as CSR initiatives, in future too.
