Grade 5 achievers bursary from Rs 500 to Rs 750
View(s):The Ministry of Education (MoE) announced a Cabinet decision to increase the monthly bursary of students who have passed the Grade 5 Scholarship exam, from Rs 500 to Rs 750.
The Cabinet also approved a 50% increase in the number of students receiving the aid.
The payment will be granted to the students until they complete their Advanced Level exams.
Accordingly, around another 65,000 students from low income families, will be picked for the grant. Already, the Government gives this grant to 130,000 Grade 5 students, at a cost of Rs 610 million.
