Three member squash team in action in Bangkok today
View(s):Young Sri Lankan squash talent will be exposed when a three member national level squash team will be in action at the Chieng Mai Cup 2019 which commences today in Bangkok, Thailand.

With national squash champion Ravindu Laksiri’s presence in the tournament will raise the moral of the other two youngsters. Laksiri will have the services of Men’s No. 2 ranked Shameel Wakeel and Ruwangi Wijekulasuriya who will be representing the Women.
The Chieng Mai Cup is played in the ‘Jumbo Double’ format where only doubles events will be in the curriculum. A new event will be introduced in this edition in Masters draw to compliment the usual Open Men’s, Women’s and Mixed double draws. Each draw will be capped at thirty two teams on first come first served basis.
It is hoped that Laksiri and Wakeel make use of their experience and skills coupled with excellent footwork and court movements to outplay opponents and to bring glory to their motherland in this all important international event.
Laksiri will pair with Wakeel to take on the Men’s Doubles. The national champion will also compete in the Mixed Doubles event partnering Ruwangi Wijekulasuriya. The two experienced Men’ s Double partners who have a better understanding between them as both have locked horns in many final events back at home and will make every effort to have a hand in the trophy. Laksiri no doubt guide Wijekulasuriya in the Mixed Double event to be in the lime light at their maiden appearance in the event.
