The efforts of Badulla Madya Maha Vidyalaya (MMV), in the Badulla district, to complete the Syllabuses by August and conduct Special Classes from August-November, before the GCE Ordinary Level (O/L) examination last year, paid rich dividends, said its Principal A.J.M.S. Pubudu Jayasinghe.

Badulla MMV came 1st in the Province, with the most number of students passing the 2018 GCE O/L exam.

“Of the 312 students, 311 students passed the O/L exam, with 54 students obtaining 9As, 42 obtaining 8As and 37 obtaining 7 As,” he said.

Mr Jayasinghe said the secret of more student’s passing is speedy completion of the syllabus by August and having Special classes for students from August-November.

“We group the best students into one class and likewise, grade students into 7 separate classes, with the lowest scoring students in 2 classes of 20 to 25 students each, and give them special attention,” he said.

He said classes are held until 1.30 pm, with discussions on past question papers held from September-November.

He said they have already implemented the schedule for this year’s O/L candidates and hope that, in 2020, Badulla MMV will have the highest number of O/L passes islandwide.
