Back in 1993, an aspiring music mogul Louis Walsh was calling for auditions to form a new Irish “boy band”. Hoping to create the next “Take That”, Walsh went through more than 300 audition tapes and voices before settling on five young men simply calling them “Boyzone.” Twenty five years later,  Mikey Graham, Shane Lynch, Keith Duffy and Ronan Keating are ready to take the stage for one last tour as a group before heading their separate ways.

This August, long lost teenagers of the 90’s and early 2000’s will get a chance to sing goodbye to the iconic Irish group that was voted the second most successful boy band in Britain, behind ‘Take That.’ Flying to Colombo for their first and last time as a group, the Asian leg of Boyzone’s farewell tour will kick off at the CR&FC grounds. Speaking at a media conference at the official hotel; the Hilton, the promoters; DCI Events and Entertainment together with their partners- Classic Travel, 444.lk,taktikbook.lk, Continental Insurance among others couldn’t contain the excitement of shining a light on Sri Lanka’s entertainment hub to the background of the songs they grew up with, which are still current and popular radio hits today. For Anton Thayalan of DCI Events, the show is a realisation of a vision they have had to put Sri Lanka on the map of world entertainment. Since their last show- Michael Learns To Rock Live in Sri Lanka last year, they have been gearing up for an equally spectacular event, with the “No Matter What” hit makers providing them with an added oomph with their final curtain call which for Asia, will begin on Sri Lankan turf. “Boyzone- 25th Anniversary & Farewell Tour” will be held on August 16 at the CR&FC grounds. Tickets can be purchased at 444.lk
and taktikbook.lk.
