As the area surrounding Galle Face is seeing rapid development, the once neglected Galle Face green is fast becoming one of Colombo’s main attractions among tourists.

Whether it’s for an evening stroll, to witness the sunset, or taste Sri Lankan street eats, foreigners seem to enjoy being a part of the hustle and bustle along with the locals.

Some foreigners say they come here to taste the prawn vadai, manioc chips and raw pineapple pickle. Others say they love to capture the beauty of the sunset and the friendliness of people through their camera lenses whilst still others say the ocean helps them relax.

What’s great however, is that Galle Face Green along with its small-scale vendors are are benefiting from the influx of tourists
