Visakha and St. Joseph’s in the lead

Visakha Vidyalaya, Colombo and St. Joseph’s College, Colombo with 256 and 243 points respectively are leading the Team Championships in the Girls and Boys segments at the 43rd National Age Group Swimming Championships 2017 in progress for the third day at the Sugathadasa Swimming Complex.
In the Girls segment Visakha is followed by Lyceum International, Wattala (210), Sirimavo Bandaranaike Balika Vidyalaya (136), Mahamaya Balika, Kandy (123) and Musaeus College, Colombo (105) occupying the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th places respectively.
Ananda College with 209 points was in the second position at the close of the second day followed by Lyceum International, Wattala (142), Lyceum International, Nugegoda (120.5) and D.S. Senanayake College, Colombo (99).
Visakha Vidyalaya swimmers emerged winners in eight events while St. Joseph’s College won six events at yesterday’s proceedings
In the Boys section Alwin Arulmaran of Gateway College, Colombo won two events in the Boys Under15 50 and 100m Backstroke and Freestyle competitions.
National swimmer Mathew Abeysinghe representing Killerwhale Aquatic Club won the Men’s 18 and over 100mts. Freestyle event.
It was noted that swimmers of Lyceum International Schools Nugegoda and Wattala are making a steady progress in the last two day’s competitions and both schools may finish the championship in higher positions in the last day today.
