Festival atmosphere as Anula Vidyalaya encounter Ratnavali BMV

A festival atmosphere took place at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium when Anula Vidyalaya, Nugegoda met Ratnavali Balika Vidyalaya in the inaugural ‘Battle of the Queens’ Cricket encounter recently.

Apart from the action in the middle the action in the stands was too were entertaining with colourful supporters of both schools wearing T’shirts with their school colours and logo and head-gear matching their clothing. It was not only the school girls, staff members of both schools were attired in specially designed saris and blouses with colours of their respective schools made the atmosphere more colourful.

Schoolgirls dancing to the music of the bands at the pavilion and their mode of cheering made the stadium noisy and the young girls were least bothered of the high temperature on the day of the match. The coaches and teachers-in-charge of both schools were seen encouraging their teams in every possible way with an idea of gaining a win in this inaugural encounter.

Spectators were treated with high quality batting by up-and-coming Sri Lanka Woman cricketer Harshitha Madavi Samarawickrema, Amasha Dilshani, the Anula skipper and Ratnavali Balika skipper Pabasara Ranabahu with entertaining half centuries.
