Vidura College trounced I-Gate International by 192 runs in their inaugural Cricket Big Match encounter played at the Army ground in Mattegoda recently. Opening the encounter, Vidura batted first and piled up 327 runs with two centuries coming from skipper Hemal Ratnayake and deputy skipper Piyumal Fernando.

In their run-chase I-Gate had a mammoth task to complete but their cause was hampered after losing wickets on regular intervals before being bowled out for 135 runs. Vidura fast bowler Akalanka Welagedara began the onslaught by taking early wickets and he was well supported by Methin Tismalpola. Both claimed two wickets each.

Akith Wijesundara, Piyumal Fernando and Pabasara Wijesinghe came in midway to wrap up the remaining I-Gate batting lineup and complete a massive win in the inaugural game. For the losers Rishin Pethmal and Arun Prakash played valiantly but were curtailed by the Vidura bowlers.
Vidura skipper Hemal Ratnayake, who hit an unbeaten knock of 143 runs, was named the man-of-the-match. The Vidura cricket team is coached by Milan Hettiarachchi and his assistant Akash Wijeyawickrama.
