Govt. bans smokeless tobacco products
View(s):The Government has made regulations prohibiting the manufacture, import and sale of smokeless tobacco products, as well as any electronic cigarettes or, any flavored, coloured or sweetened cigarettes that contain tobacco.
The Regulations on Prohibited Tobacco Products have been made by Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine, Dr Rajitha Senaratne, under the provisions of the National Authority on Tobacco and Alcohol Act.
The Regulations state that, “No person shall manufacture, import, sell or offer for sale any tobacco product which does not generate smoke.”
