The Under 19 inter-school is back on track again with the 2016/17 season due to get underway this week. Launching the season for this new season will be game between Wesley and Lumbini MV due to be played on during the course of this week at Campbell Park. Wesley will be led by Chamod Athulathmudali while Lumbini MV will be captained by Thanuka Dabare.  Wesley after a lean patch was promoted to the top division by the SLSCA authorities last year. This year they are determined to justify their promotion further. This match will be a tournament match. The following week will see two matches down for decision with St Patrick’s Jaffna hosting St Joseph’s led by Harin Cooray at in Jaffna while President’s College Kotte will play host to Zahira at Rajagiriya.

St Peter’s will be playing their first game on September 23 and 24 against St Aloysius Galle while St Sebastian’s is down to play their first match on September 30 and October 1 against Dharmaraja at Moratuwa. Though the team managements are a hive of activity with their final preparations they prefer to stay tight lipped about the respective captains. When the Sunday Times contacted them most of the schools mentioned that they have not decided the on their respective captains.  However the season will be in full swing in the weeks to come and no doubt there is going to be much interest as the future national stars could be seen and the two players who caught the eye of the national selectors were Avishka Fernando and Lahiru Kumara who both were included in the Sri Lanka team for the ODI.
