Harshana shines in Asian junior Chess

G.M. Harshana Tillekeratne of Maliyadeva College Kurunegala won the silver medal in the under 13 boy’s category in the Asian schools Chess championship held in Teheran Iran recently. Ehsha Pallie of Vishaka Vidyalaya Colombo won the bronze medal in the girls under 9 open category bringing glory to Sri Lanka. Harshana Tillekeratne with over 2000 rating points at the under 13 level won the Gold medal in the under 11 category at World schools Chess championship held at Brazil in 2014 and also ended as equal first in the under 8 tournament in the World youth Chess championship 2011 held in Brazil.

He won the equal second place in the under 7 category in the World school Chess Championship held in Turkey in 2010. Both Tillekeratne and Ehsha Pallie bagged silver and bronze medals for their respective events at the Asian schools Chess championship held in Singapore last year also. Harshana has already qualified to represent Sri Lanka in the boys under 14 category at the World youth Chess championship which will be held later this month.
