Ananda, S. Thomas’ Mt. Lavinia, St. Peter’s Bambalapitiya and Royal Colombo qualified for the semi-finals of the All Island School Games Boy’s Tennis tournament at the SLTA courts, Green Path yesterday.

In the quarter-finals Ananda beat Jaffna St. John’s 2-0, S. Thomas’ beat Maradana St. Joseph’s 2-0, St. Peter’s beat Kandana De Mazenod 2-0 and Royal beat Thurstan 2-0.

Today in the semi-finals Ananda will meet S. Thomas’ while St. Peter’s will be up against Royal.

Seventeen teams took part in the competition in the age groups of under13 -19.

In the girl’s contest Colombo Visakha Vidyalaya, Ladies College, Bishop’s College and Holy Family Convent Bambalapitiya have qualified to play in the semi-finals.

Visakha received a walk-over from Batticaloa Vincent Balika while Ladies College beat Chundikuli Girl’s School Jaffna 2-0 . Bishop’s overcame Museaus 2-0 and Holy Family Convent Bambalapitiya beat Hillwood Kandy 2-0.

The semi-finals will be between Ladies vs Bishop’s and Holy Family vs Visakha today. The finals will be worked off tomorrow.

To this competition conducted by the Education Department 17 boys’ teams and 15 girls’ teams are taking part.
