Blue Star SC Kalutara records first football win in DCL Super Eight

Blue Star SC Kalutara recorded their first win in the Dialog Champions League Super Eight Round when they toppled last year’s defending champions Renown SC Colombo 2-0 at the Race Course under floodlights yesterday.

The competition is being conducted by the Sri Lanka Football Federation. Blue Star led 1-0 over Renown with Mohammed Farzeen netting in the goal in the 23rd minute.

In the second half Blue Star scored another goal but it was disallowed as an offside attempt. In the 81st minute the second goal was netted by E.B. Channa.

Prior to the above game at the same venue the match between Sri Lanka Air Force SC and Sri Lanka Army SC ended in a two all draw. Army led 1-0 at the breather with Sajith Kumara scoring the goal in the 36th minute.

In the 56th minute Kavidu Ishan scored the goal for Air Force to make it one all. The second goal for the Airmen was netted in by Kalum Perera in the 70th minute. Army’s last goal was booted in by H.M. De Silva in the 90+7th minute.

Dilan Udayanga of the Army was shown the Red Card in the 67th minute and was ordered off the field.

TODAY: Sri Lanka Navy SC will be pitted against Solid SC Anuradhapura at 4 pm. At 6 pm will be the game between New Youngs SC Wennappuwa and Colombo FC at Race Course ground.

All future games will be worked off at the CR and FC ground.
