One of the biggest golf tournaments in the world, will be coming to Sri Lanka as a part of their Asian leg today at the Royal Colombo Golf Club in Colombo.  World Golf Cup Amateur Series will make history in 2016 when it becomes the largest corporate golf tournament in the world. With 100 qualifying events, in 61 countries worldwide, the series will feature an anticipated 8,000 players, each competing for one of just 100 coveted Grand Final spots in Istanbul, Turkey next month.  The winner of the Sri Lankan leg of the event at Victoria Golf will be one of the 100 qualifying participants to represent the Country in Istanbul.

“This is the very first time that Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup Amateur Series branching out to Sri Lanka. The Sri Lankan tournament will come alive on Sunday at 9.00am at Victoria Golf. 98 players will take part in the Tournament and the luck winner will take the wings to Turkey,”‘ explained Osgur Suucak, the General Manger of the Turkish Airlines, Colombo  The format of play is individual stable ford, with one eligible winner from each qualifier progressing to the spectacular Grand Final, in Belek, Turkey in October 2016. Each qualifying event will also offer a best gross prize and nearest the pin competitions with separate prizes for men and ladies.

The 100 lucky Grand Final qualifiers will enjoy return Business Class flights with Turkish Airlines, accommodation on an all-inclusive basis at the 5-star Titanic Deluxe Belek.  ‘For the Grand Final winners, a once in a lifetime opportunity to participate in the Pro-Am of the Turkish Airlines Open awaits. Over the last three years, finalists have experienced the challenge of the Montgomerie Maxx Royal Course in the company of, amongst others, Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, Henrik Stenson, Martin Kaymer and Victor Dubuisson’ he added.  With the TAWGC continuing to attract global interest from sponsors and media alike, the 2016 series will undoubtedly be the best yet.

Finalists will arrive in business class luxury on board Turkish Airlines and will be treated to eight nights all-inclusive accommodation in the five star resort. The 36-hole Grand Final will take place over two days on the attached Titanic Golf Club course, with winners progressing to complete alongside some of the games leading professional players in the pro-am of the 2016 Turkish Airlines Open, the $7,000,000 European Tour event which signals the start of the 2016 ‘Final Race to Dubai Series’ on the European Tour.

The 2016 Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup, golf’s widest-reaching corporate golf tournament, had an exciting July with a further eight names added to the ever growing list of Grand Finalists and there is still plenty of excitement to come with 38 events remaining.  July featured eight qualifying events and over 1,400 guests participated, the series touched down in seven European destinations and visited nine time Open Championship venue Royal Birkdale for the Manchester qualifier.  Rokko Country Club, Osaka and Gorki Golf Club, St Petersburg also welcomed guests.
