Nalanda struck back after conceding a first inning lead to DSS to record an outright win by four wickets in the low scoring Under 19 inter-school cricket encounter at DSS ground in Wijerama Mawatha yesterday. The hero of the Nalanda win was left arm spinner Kavindu Bandara who ended with a match bag of 9 for 61. Kavindu’s five wicket haul in DSS’s second innings paved the way for Nalanda’s victory.

As expected S. Thomas’ recorded an outright win over Wesley with a five wicket win in the match concluded at Mt Lavinia. The Thomians ended day one in a strong position having made a formidable score of 271 for 9 declared and then had the Wesleyites struggling on 66 for 5.

St Benedict’s recorded a close first inning wins over Bandaranayake MV Gampaha in the high scoring match at Kotahena yesterday.  Royal dominated proceedings against Ananda in the match at Reid Avenue. Royal batting duo Tiran Dhanapala and Ganith Sandeepa cracked half tons helping them make 263 for 8 declared to Ananda’s 253 for 9 declared.
