Leshan and Manisha guide Isipathana to second consecutive win

Half tons by Leshan Amarasinghe and Manisha Rupasinghe helped Isipathana College register their second consecutive win in the first round of the all island schools under 15 division one cricket tournament by defeating St Mary’s College Chilaw by six wickets. The match which was reduced to 47 overs per side and was played at the St Mary’s College ground in Chilaw.

Electing to bat first, St. Mary’s scored 155 for the loss of seven wickets with Lahiru Thilan top scored with 37 while Ashen Imesh captured three wickets.

The Isipathana batsmen scored 157 for the loss of four wickets in less than half the number of allotted overs to register a six-wicket win. Leshan Amarasinghe was unbeaten on 54 scored off 60 balls with eight boundaries and a six while Manisha Rupasinghe scored a quick-fire 53 off 36 balls with six boundaries and three sixes. – PDdeS

Put into bat first the Kegalle Marians were restricted to 70 runs in 24.1 overs with right-arm pacer C.T. Rajapakse doing the damage. He claimed top figures of 6 for 23.

Matale Thomians in their run chase, with Sumudu Bandara leading the way with an unbeaten 41, reached the target in the eighth over for the loss of two wickets.
