After a week’s off, which resulted in votes being counted together for the past two weekends, St. Peter’s College allrounder Sachin Dalpethado still manages to stay ahead in the main competition of the 36th Bata-the Sunday Times Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer of the year 2015 contest.  As the competition reaches its tenth week, Sachin expanded his lead from close contender Malinga Amarasinghe of Nalanda College by 1111 votes which could be crucial in time to come.

Others in the top ten – Aravinda Akurugoda of St. Joseph’s College, Himesha Ranganath of Royal College Panadura, Pathum Madushanka of St. Joseph’s College, Randev Pathirana of Royal College Colombo, Lakshan Rodrigo of St. Peter’s College, Charith Asalanka of Richmond College, Shehan Weerasinghe of Zahira College and Harith Samarasinghe of Royal College Colombo remain as they were.

In the Emerging Schools category, Nipun Malinga of Vidyaloka College Galle holds the lead over the other contender in battle Udith Dilsara of St. Peter’s College Negombo by over a double number of votes.  Sahan Thennakoon of Lyceum International Panadura managed to topple Shimraz Shahill of Alethea International to take the top position of the International Schools category of the competition.

Coupons of the 36th Bata-the Sunday Times Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year 2015 will appear on Wijeya Newspapers’ dailies, the Daily Mirror and Lankadeepa and also its weekend English issue, the Sunday Times and the Sinhala weekly Deshaya. Readers will be able to send in as much as coupons in favour of their favourite schoolboy cricketer until mid June.
