While St. Peter’s College fared overwhelmingly, Adithya Nanayakkara went on to make his team proud by clinching the Under-15 championship at the 8th annual Sri Lanka Schools All-Island Age Group Novices Aquatic Championship 2015. Adithya won a gold medal competing in the 50-metre freestyle event and went on to win a silver medal in the 50-metre back stroke event to become the best Under-15 swimmer of the championship.

His team, St. Peter’s, also won the overall runners-up position in the Sri Lanka Schools Amateur Swimming Championship 2015 held earlier.Adithya and his mates are well guided by a dedicated coaching staff comprising Mahi Chandralal, Rajindra Perera and Upul Wijesiri. Under their guidance St. Peter’s has produced number of top swimmers while winning trophies at All-Island Schools’ level. Sujeewa Dias and Denzil Fernando act as teachers-in-charge of the St. Peter’s swimming squad. – NA
