Additional Solicitor General and President’s Counsel

Yasantha Kodagoda, attorney-at-law, has been promoted to Additional Solicitor General and President’s Counsel. He was earlier Deputy Solicitor General at the Attorney General’s Department.

Mr Kodagoda was a student of Ananda College. He completed his primary legal education at the Sri Lanka Law College and his postgraduate legal education at University College London, Britain. He apprenticed in the chambers of President’s Counsel Ranjit Abeysuriya. He also served for a brief period as Junior Counsel to President’s Counsel R.I. Obeyesekere and President’s Counsel B.J. Fernando.

In February 1989, he joined the Attorney General’s Department as State Counsel. He has a postgraduate diploma in forensic medicine and sciences from the University of Colombo. He obtained a masters degree in public international law from University College London. He was promoted as Senior State Counsel in 1999 and Deputy Solicitor General in 2005. Mr Kodagoda is visiting lecturer cum examiner at the Kotalawela Defence University.
