Cops could blow down the Airmen

The running backs of Police would be a decisive factor when the Police Park side take on the Air Force in their first round encounter at their home ground in the Dialog sponsored ‘A’ Division inter club rugby encounter this evening.

Police have played this season so far in fits and bursts and have even gone on to rattle the much fancied CR outfit and also produced some dazzling play to lead Havelocks at the half way stage before they eventually lost.

Police have a Fijian in Apisai Naqaliva who on his day can outsmart any defence with his nimble footed and blazing runs to change the course of play. He did it against Havelocks and also against CR where he even inspired his local speedsters in winger Sudham Sooriyarachchi and center Samantha Lakshan to score brilliant tries and inflict an amazing win against the red shirts.

Air Force is the only side so far to record a win having lost six games on the trot. They started off the season sans any foreigners but have added a few as the weeks went by. They were brilliant in two games played so far when first against CH they even led for the first 30 minutes to eventually lose. Last week playing another lowly rung side in Hambantota Sharks they nearly pulled off their first win. They lost the game 17-20 but won the admiration of everyone who was at the grounds to witness that game.

Police will be predicted to win today and secure a bonus point in the bargain. – MDF
