Ananda wins inaugural Maroons water polo battle
View(s):Ananda College beat Nalanda College by 14-6 in their inaugural Maroons Water Polo held at the Sugathadasa Swimming Pool Complex last weekend. The Most Valuable Player, Malinka Jayasekera with six goals and Dhanushka Hansaka with a hat-trick took the victorious Ananda College unit to a convincing and a historic win against their traditional rivals. For the fighting losers Bhanuka Wijesundera slotted four goals while skipper Nimnaka Ratnayake found the net twice. In the Under-15 battle Nalanda College recorded a commanding 13 goals to 5 win with goalkeeper Kesara de Silva bagging the Most Valuable Player award for the Junior Category. – NA
