The much anticipated event for theatre directors, actors and lovers of Sri Lankan theatre, the State Drama Festival is now being held at the Tower Hall theatre, Maradana with 13 dramas and 15 short plays. Commencing on February 10 the festival which is organised by the Cultural Affairs Department will go till February 28.
The long plays in the competitive section are.

Chamika Hathlahawatte’s ‘Ape Makarata’ on Feb 16 (today), ‘Che Guvera’ by Buddhika Damayantha on Feb 17, ‘Rangapema Iwarai’ by Udayasiri Wickramaratne on Feb 18, Akila Sapumal’s ‘Rawana Adaraye Husma Langa’ on Feb 19, Priyankara Ratnayake’s ‘Visekariyo’ on Feb 20, Jayalath Manoratne’s ‘Sellam Niridu’ on Feb 21 and Parakrama Nirieella’s ‘Hunuwataye Kathawa’ on Feb 22. Upananda Welikala’s ‘Mugham’ will be staged on Feb 26 as a Tamil invitee drama while Douglas Ranasinghe’s ‘Berahanda’ will be staged on Feb 28 as a Sinhala invitee drama.
Fifteen short plays will be staged on Feb 23, 24 and 25.
