Virtusa and Amana Bank held each other to a two-all draw when the Mercantile Football Association League Tournament for 2013 got off to a start at the City Football ground recently. At the short whistle the scores were level at one all.

In the 13th minute of the game, Virtusa opened scoring when left extreme S. Ahamed put his side one up. But in the 22nd minute Amana Bank equalized through centre forward T.M. Faleel.

After the turn around, mid field M. Chandanamal put Virtusa once again in front in the 48th minute, but two minutes later, T.M. Faleel of Amana Bank booted his second goal to make the score two all.

The game was refereed by K.K. Kushan Indika, while the co-ordinator was K.A.G. Gunasena and the match commissioner was Anton Atapattu.

Smart Shirts hold Courtaulds to 1-1 draw

Smart Shirts held Courtaulds to a one-all draw in their Mercantile Football Association soccer fixture at the City League ground recently. At the halftime mark, Courtaulds were one up.

The first goal of the game came off the boot of centre forward P. Dalpadado in the 20th minute and Courtaulds were one up.
But after the turn around, mid field N.V. Kumara booted the equalizer for Smart Shirts in the 40th minute to make it a one all draw.
The game was controlled by K.N.P. Sameera while the co-ordinator was A.G. Mendis and the match commissioner was Anton Atapattu. – BM
